Our Services

Here at Dental care of Montebello provide a wide variety of dental services from general cleanings and checkups to advanced dental implants and cosmetic veneers. To learn more about our dental services select one of the options below.

Crowns & Bridges

We will prescribe a bridge when one or more teeth are missing and there are healthy teeth on both sides of the open space. Bridges can be made from three types of material: solid gold for reliable long wear, porcelain fused to a gold base for strength and beauty, and high-strength metal-free porcelain for optimum cosmetic results.

Bridges are prescribed for damaged, decayed or broken teeth. The damaged teeth are prepared by eliminating tooth structure. After fabrication the bridge is cemented to the prepared teeth. Bridges restore the natural beauty and health of teeth. With proper care, your new bridge will increase your overall health and instill confidence for years to come.

Veneers

Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a veneer is a thin shell that is placed over the front or visible parts of the tooth. There are two types of veneers: ceramic veneers that are produced by a dental laboratory and resin-based composite veneers. With proper care, your new veneers will greatly improve your appearance and increase your confidence for years to come.

Veneers are prescribed for damaged, discolored, or broken teeth. The tooth is prepared by eliminating surface structure. After fabrication the veneer is cemented to the prepared tooth. Veneers restore natural beauty and health of teeth.

Whitening

Everyone loves a bright, white smile. Today there are a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the color of your teeth. Some whitening procedures, are done in our office with one visit. Other whitening agents can be purchased over-the-counter, however this type of whitening does not whiten your teeth as quickly or as effectively as those delivered by your dentist.

Teeth whitening is ideal for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth (no fillings) and gums. Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth respond best. But this cosmetic procedure is not recommended for everyone.

Implants

When it comes to replacing one or more teeth in your mouth, a dental implant is often the treatment of choice and is also one of the most conservative treatments for tooth replacement. Implants are biocompatible posts that replace the roots of your missing teeth. They are physically and biologically designed to attach to your jaw bone and become the foundation for a natural looking restoration. Your new tooth or teeth will have excellent stability and strength, and will look and feel like your natural teeth. Implants are prescribed to replace a missing tooth or teeth. An implant post is placed where the tooth is missing. A customized crown or bridge is permanently cemented to the implant. Implants restore the natural beauty, function, and health of teeth.

Oral Surgery

After an initial oral examination, it may be determined that the patient needs to see an oral surgeon for a surgical procedure beyond the scope of the general dentist. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are the surgical specialists of the dental profession. After dental school, they complete at least four additional years of training encompassing anesthesiology, diagnosing and treating diseases found in the mouth, and the prevention, reconstruction or emergency care for teeth, jaws, mouth and facial structures. Oral Surgeons are best known for extracting wisdom teeth, but in reality they do much more. During an initial consultation, the general dentist may conclude that the patient's needs go beyond his or her scope. Reasons may include, but are not limited to:

  • Impacted teeth (usually third molars, a.k.a. wisdom teeth) - the tooth is moving either into or against an adjacent tooth, and it has not fully erupted out of the bone.
  • A possible lesion - Some pathological tissue that needs further investigation.
  • A biopsy - Tissue is removed and sent to a laboratory for microscopic examination to determine the proper treatment.
  • The tooth has broken to the gum line, or there are pieces of roots that must be removed.
  • Full mouth extraction for a denture.

Periodontal Surgery

Periodontitis is a form of gum disease. It is a chronic infection of the gums which is characterized by a loss of attachment between the teeth and the jawbone. Dental plaque is the primary cause of gum disease in genetically susceptible individual. What is dental plaque? Dental plaque is formed by tons of bacteria. When the plaque is accumulated around teeth, the bacteria will irritate the gum to turn red, swell and bleed easily. As time passed by, the gum will gradually separate from the teeth forming infectious pocket spaces. Plaque can also turn into hard, and rough porous substance known as calculus (tartar). Calculus can occur both above and below the gum line. As periodontal disease progresses, the supporting gum tissue and the bone that hold the teeth in place will deteriorate. If disease left untreated, the bone and the gum that support the teeth will be destroyed. The teeth may eventually become loose and will lead to teeth loss.

The common visible signs of periodontal disease are bleeding, redness and swelling of the gum. Nevertheless, active periodontal disease can also be present without any visible signs or pains.

Laser Periodontal Surgery (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure - LANAP)

LANAP procedure can provide a much better result than the traditional periodontal surgery. You may not know that most laser systems have no study to backup their claim. Periolase is the only laser system which treatment results are confirmed and verified by clinical and histology studies (microscopic examination). Furthermore, on-going comparison studies in several U.S. dental schools have been done to establish long-term results from this system vs. the traditional surgery.

Clinicians are mandated to attend a four days training course before the equipment is delivered to their offices; and the inventors of this equipment are two dentists. They have treated and documented thousands of patients for the last ten to fifteen years with this system. Patients have received remarkable results.

Laser periodontal therapy (LANAP) requires no cutting and no sewing. To patients this means: less pain, less bleeding, less swelling, less tissue removal, less recovery time.

Osseous Surgery

When pocket depth is greater or equal to 5mm, non surgical treatment (deep cleaning) is no longer effective. Cleaning instruments can not reach the bottom of the pocket to completely remove plaque and calculus that are on the root surface. In this situation, periodontal surgery is necessary.

Osseous surgery consists of cutting gum and pulling the gum away from the teeth and bone so that the periodontist has a direct view of and access to the diseased bone and the root surface. Having the direct view also allows the periodontist to thoroughly remove plaque and calculus from the root surfaces.

Then the gum will be sutured back purposely at a position lower than the pre-surgical level. Unfortunately, due to this gum placement, the teeth will appears longer and the roots will be exposed. Patients may experience sensitivity to cold and hot.

Mild Periodontitis - Gingiva is turning slightly pink.
Moderate Periodontitis - Gingiva is turning red and swelling; teeth become loose.
Severe Periodontitis - Teeth are too loose and falling out.

Root Canals

Endodontic treatment, more commonly known as root canal therapy, is necessary when the pulp of your tooth becomes inflamed or infected. The inflammation or infection can have a variety of causes such as deep decay, repeated dental procedures on your tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth. With proper care, an endodontically treated tooth will function normally for years to come. Decay can result in an infection to the pulp of the tooth. After creating a small opening, very small instruments are used to clean and shape the root canal spaces. The cleaned spaces are filled with a biocompatible material and specialized cement to ensure complete sealing of the root canals.

Dentures & Repairs

If you have lost some or all of your natural teeth, dentures can be used to replace your missing teeth; improving your health as well as your appearance. Dentures prevent the sagging of facial muscles, which can make a person with missing teeth look much older. Dentures also enable you to eat and speak normally, little things often taken for granted until natural teeth are lost. Every morning before you insert your dentures, brush your gums, tongue, and palate with a soft-bristled brush to stimulate circulation in your tissues and to help remove plaque. Regular dental checkups are needed so we can examine your mouth and dentures to ensure a healthy and comfortable fit.

Cosmetics

Our cosmetic services include a variety of treatments, procedures and specialties for patients looking to enhance their smiles. These include teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, implants, dentures and crowns.

Extractions

Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment.

The removal of a single tooth can lead to problems related to your chewing ability, problems with your jaw joint, and shifting teeth, which can have a major impact on your dental health. Third molars begin to erupt in the teenage years coinciding with adulthood and, to some, the age of wisdom thus the term "wisdom teeth." Unfortunately, these teeth are usually erupting into a jaw too small to hold them, and thus are determined to be "unnecessary." When this occurs, teeth are considered "impacted," meaning they are prevented from fully erupting through the gumline and are not in a normal position to function properly. When teeth are impacted, they're not only useless in helping us chew, but they actually can cause damage. Since they can't be cleaned properly, food debris, plaque and bacteria collect around them resulting in tooth decay, gum disease, infection and even abscesses.

These issues are not limited to wisdom teeth; they can affect a djacent molars and surrounding gum tissue. Cyst formation and other destructive pathology are also common around impacted wisdom teeth.

Adult & Children Dentistry

Children Dentistry

Adults and children have specific and individual needs. In order for the patient to have a pleasant and enjoyable dental experience (one that they will want to come back for), these needs have to be met. We excel in providing these needs.

Parents can accompany their child into our treatment area for any appointment: sedations, extractions, root canals fillings or check-ups. Parents are always welcome. We partner with you to decide what treatment is best for your child.

Braces

Braces are the most efficient and accurate way of moving teeth. They are usually made of stainless steel although clear brackets are available, usually at extra cost. Fitting the braces usually involves two visits. Braces remain on the teeth for the entire duration of treatment. Patients then attend approximately every 4-8 weeks for adjustments, wire changes, etc. Rubber Bands and Headgear. During treatment, patients may need to wear such items as rubber bands and/or headgear with their braces. These items provide important extra forces for the correction of the bite.

Invisalign

Invisalign

Invisalign is a clear alternative to conventional braces. Invisalign is the clear way to straighten teeth without braces, using aligners. Aligners are made out of clear thin plastic that are invisible when worn. The doctor uses a series of aligners to move the teeth. Each set is worn approximately for 2 weeks. The aligners are removable for you can eat and drink normally.

You can brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene. There are no wires or metal brackets to cause discomfort.
